"A new chapter was opened last year in the friendly and cooperative relations between Japan and India when Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh visited Japan in December and signed, together with Japanese Prime Minister Mr. Shinzo Abe, the Joint Statement towards Japan-India Strategic and Global Partnership. The Joint Statement reiterated the importance of the two countries' cooperation in major six areas including Defense and Security, Economic Partnership, Science and Technology and People to People Exchanges and set down diverse ways and means to enhance the cooperation, placing the most extensive and comprehensive emphasis on Economic Partnership.
With a new road map thus directed and blessed by the Joint Statement, the synergy of booming Indian economy and the global leadership position of Japan in world economy is now expected to take the India-Japan relationship to its new height.
In this context, I am very much pleased and encouraged to know that Indo-Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (IJCCI) Karnataka, which was formed in November 2004, has been making strenuous efforts to increase its enrolling members and enhance activities to promote business ties between India and Japan, and to date some 40 members have joined IJCCI to work together under its banner.
In fact, Karnataka is a fast growing state of India, well known for its leadership in the information technology, automotive and engineering industries with Bangalore as its capital that is one of the best cosmopolitan cities within India. And most importantly, Karnataka provides the needed economic and social infrastructures for investment, trade, commerce and industries.
In light of the above, I believe that IJCCI Karnataka will have an immensely important role to play in further promoting the bilateral trade, commerce and industry collaboration between Karnataka and Japan. Hence, it is my sincere hope that the leading business organizations, entrepreneurs and institutions of both Indian and Japanese origin in Karnataka will make concerted efforts through active participation in IJCCI for the joint goal of promoting business interest and strengthening the bilateral relationship with Japan.
I trust that the IJCCI will be successful in its endeavors to promote Karnataka-Japan relations and sincerely hope that IJCCI would become one of the leading chambers of commerce and industry in India.
In concluding, I wish to extend my best wishes to the committed team of IJCCI dedicated to its mission and assure IJCCI of our continued support."
